First Greensea’s newbuilding m/v Orange Spirit launched in China

The first of the 4 newbuildings, m/v Orange Spirit was delivered in December 2018 from Guangxin Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry.

The second vessel m/v Orange Sea is scheduled for delivery in January, while the final two will follow in early March and April.

Main characteristics of the newbuild series

– 310.000 cbft capacity

– 4 almost equal holds in cubic size, 3 decks (each hold 1 temp zone, each deck separate air supply, ab= insulated deck), after finishing loading of deck freezing can start immediately

– Min deck height 240/242 cm

– Capacity for 65 FEU on deck (including 45 ft containers)

– Insulation: pur-foam panels in combination with  rockwool.

Wisa white panels/ceilings (easy to clean, hygienic)

– Aluminum gratings (forklift+cargo max 9 tons with 80% weight on forward axle)

– Hold 1 certified for IMO 4.2 + 9 (two types of fishmeal, on deck in containers all classes)

– Hold lights , tuna friendly (strong protection, no glass) , LED

– Ammonia/brine cooling system (-25 / +13 deg)

– Hatch covers main deck are single pull type covers comprised of 3 panels each 2.8m – can opened individually

Hatch covers on each tween deck are single pull covers comprised by 4 panels, can be opened individually

(important in order to keep cold air in/ warm air out)

– All derricks/winches are electronic, no hydraulics (no risk for leakage)

– Extreme angle rudder (60deg)

– Two stroke 5 cylinder MAN main engine with electronic controlled injection (able to go as  low as 5% load for

ultra slow steaming whilst performing transshipment at high seas)

– Bow-thruster (750kw)

– 4 aux/alternators (620kw), 3 compressors, 1 emergency/harbor generator (260kw)

– Engine control room = citadel (bullet proof, full control of vessel, iridium phone, food/water supply)

– Ballast Water Treatment  plant installed

– Heat generation/recovery system

– prepared for scrubber

– fixed pitch propeller with boss cap finn (extra efficiency)

– impressed current system (to protect hull from corrosion)

– extra bollards on deck (to moor with fishing vessels)

– Chafing bars on stern and bow

– Hull paint combination of hard- and soft anti fouling

– prepared for sea anchor (to prolong t/s ops at high seas)

– Accommodation for 10 extra men (stevedores)

– 260 tons fresh water (also cool and freeze stores are large to be able to stay at sea for prolonged times)

–  Trolley system on deck (to move cargo alongside cargo holds via rail)
